Run your first scan

This article is for reference only. As of April 22, 2025, MacPaw stopped developing and maintaining CleanMy® PC.

My Computer Cleanup is the primary module in CleanMy® PC that finds unneeded and broken files on your computer and performs basic cleanup. All files in this module are created automatically by the system or apps, so removing them is safe for your personal data. Also, the cleanup doesn't affect other software on your computer.

To start scanning your computer, follow these steps:

  1. Open CleanMy® PC and go to My Computer Cleanup.

  2. Click Scan at the bottom of the window.

The scan may take a while, depending on how much data is on your computer.

  3. After the scan is completed, the app shows a summary of the scan results, where you can:

    • Quickly free up disk space without reviewing the results—click Clean and wait for the cleanup to finish.

    • Review the items selected for removal—click Show Details.

The scan results include data that can be safely deleted, but you can review them if needed.

      When reviewing, you can:

      • Open the location where an item is stored. For this, hover over an item entry and click the magnifier icon in the Description column.

      • Add items to the ignore list so the app skips them during scans. For this, right-click an item, then choose Add to Ignore List.

After reviewing the scan results, click Clean to delete the selected items.

After completing the basic system cleanup, try other modules to tidy up and manage your computer, such as Multi Uninstaller, Hibernation, Extensions, Autorun, Privacy, and Shredder.
