After you've added your cloud connection to CleanMyMac, select it, then click Scan to build the cloud storage map and wait for the process to finish.

When the scan completes, CleanMyMac shows you the summary screen where you can view general info about files found in your cloud, review and clean up the following:

  • All files stored in the cloud
  • Only locally synced files (if any)
  • Only large files (if any)—files that take up the most space in your cloud
  • Only large locally synced files (if any)—large, rarely used cloud files stored on your Mac.

All files and locally synced files

When you review all files together or only locally synced files, CleanMyMac shows you a visual map of what's taking up space in your cloud—a list of top-level folders and files sorted by size (largest first) alongside their bubbles—the bigger the bubble, the more storage the item takes.

The list and bubbles show only the heaviest items; click Other items in the list to reveal everything else.

When you hover over a bubble or a list entry, CleanMyMac highlights that item in both views. You can also view basic item info by hovering over its bubble or by clicking the item in the list.

To navigate and explore the results in details:

  • Double-click a folder in the list or click its bubble to dive in and explore its contents.

  • Use the left and right angle bracket buttons (< and >) above the bubbles to move back or forward along your browsing trail.

  • Click a breadcrumb above the bubbles to jump directly to that folder.

  • Double-click the empty area around the bubbles (not on a bubble) to move up one level in the hierarchy.

When you see an item you're interested in, you can use quick actions on it. For this, right-click the item in the list or the respective bubble, then choose what to do:

  • Select item
  • Show item in Finder
  • Get item details
  • Preview item

To select an item for removal:

  • Use quick actions
  • Select checkbox next to the item in the list

To select all items in the current folder, click Select above the list, then choose Select All.

When you explore scan results, you may see some items you can't select for removal—these are essential system items that can't be deleted.

Once you've finished browsing and exploring scan results, and selected the required items:

  • If you're reviewing all cloud files, click Review & Remove—CleanMyMac will delete the selected items from your cloud storage.

  • If you're reviewing locally synced files, click Review & Unsync—CleanMyMac will remove the selected items from your Mac, but they will stay in your cloud storage.

Large files

When you review large files stored in the cloud or synced locally, CleanMyMac shows you a list where you can view all files at once, only selected ones, or in groups: by kind, size, or access date.

Right-click a file to:

  • Select it for removal
  • Reveal it in Finder
  • Get file info
  • Preview it via Quick Look

After you've finished reviewing scan results and selected the desired items:

  • If you're reviewing large cloud files, click Remove—CleanMyMac will delete the selected items from your cloud storage.

  • If you're reviewing large locally synced files, click Unsync—CleanMyMac will remove the selected items from your Mac, but they will remain in your cloud storage.
